So Fresh and so clean (clean) Tips for decluttering your storage space.

Yes you! Clean that Storeroom, it’s about time for all the Tupperware and “Do I really need these?” bits and bobs you stole from your parents house, are seen to!

Storage rooms are a mess for most people, but the time has come to transition from hoarding to…homeliness!

I got tired of everyone dumping anything in there and not getting enough walk space to take things that are important to me when I need them. If you are a furniture hoarder, yours is probably out of control but no need to worry.

WnT is coming to you live and direct with some of the functionality tips we review with our clients before we begin working on their storage space revamps! Did we mention that the decluttering process is the part of the job that you handle?

Make way – literally – before we come through. Here’s how!

1)Schedule time to focus on decluttering – sounds pretty straightforward, right? Wrong!

You’ll often find that the most daunting tasks are the ones we put off for ages.

2) Be intentional – set aside a weekend (or 20…just kidding) to tackle this task!

3) Get yourself some storage bins or boxes – before we arrive at the scene – before your design is being conceptualised!

You’ll have way more direction and guidance regarding what to keep and what to get rid of!

4) Get rid of duplicate items. Your Granny wasn’t always right about needing 10 of everything. Please, we beg, ok? Throw it away!

5) Categorise and label your items.

6) Keep only what you’ve used in the last year. You’re probably going to throw a lot more out at this stage. But of course, keep sentimental items only when needed. Don’t hoard. Let it go. Are you recognising a theme here?

7) Create a designated spot for items you want to keep in the storeroom.

8) Divide your remaining items into piles of three or four; not more. Remember, Less is More!

9) Cut back on paper clutter by digitising when you can.

10) Adopt a policy to put items back where they came from.

Hopefully, these tips help you achieve a clean storage space you are proud to walk into.

Remember – your home reflects who you are and your storeroom is part of that identity too. Don’t send your visitor there to re-up on Bel Aqua, only to be met by a volcanic eruption – you don’t want it!

It’s time to exhibit your awesome personality through the story your home tells – including your pantry or storage space.

Don’t Hoard. Let it go.

Less is More – and our designs will always ensure that ‘more’ is maximised!
